Since the 1990s, Internet and digitization have created technological breakthroughs. The new economic paradigm of the “smart economy” provides the foundation for “onlife retail.”
In this module, we will deal with seven new technologies. Together, they will cause a veritable landslide in retail. What do these technologies have to offer retail, and what do they mean for people and society in general? All these different technological developments have one thing in common: they are based on big data being universally available. Imperceptibly, they go about making people’s lives easier, simpler and more pleasant. On the downside, we are becoming increasingly dependent on technology. Our privacy is one of the key areas of impact. For that very reason, we round off the module with the effects of a smart economy on the privacy of onlife consumers.
